How we produce your web site
1. The Initial Consultation
These consultations usually take place at your location, and take
about an hour. They are completely free and without obligation.
An initial consultation is an exchange of information. We'll answer
any questions you have, and find out what kind of web site you are
planning or considering. The purpose is to provide you with enough
information to allow you to decide whether you want to go on to
the next step, the writing of a detailed estimate.
2. Estimate preparation
If, after the initial consultation, you decide to go forward, we
will spend more time gathering information, usually by email or
phone, and write an estimate for the potential web site.
We charge for preparing an estimate, based on the complexity of
the project. This is billed at the time the estimate is provided.
If you then wish to proceed, this fee is absorbed into the total
estimate for the project. At this stage we will ask you for a deposit
based on the estimated cost of the work.
3 . Gathering content
Text and graphic content must be gathered before most work can
begin on the site. We will assist you in getting your information
for the text, logo, graphics, and photographs needed for the site,
but it is important to understand that a web site project does require
work on your part. We cannot create a site out of nothing.
4 . Final design of site structure
While you are gathering content, we will work on detailed plans
for the site structure (the way information is presented and how
navigation will work).
5 . Page layout drafts
Next, page layout and visual design begins. The site's Main Page
is designed first. We produces a draft based upon the content, needs,
and preferences provided, and upload this site to a private location
on the Internet where you can view it. Your feedback is solicited,
and this feedback used to produce a second draft. Once more, your
feedback is used to make another round of changes, and these changes
are expected to produce a final draft.
The same process is used for any other page designs required for
the site.
6 . Creation of actual pages
The approved page designs are now used as templates. Text and graphic
content is "plugged in" and adjusted for a perfect layout
7 . Final Site Testing
The site is tested on the actual server. You'll have another chance
to review it for any minor changes or corrections. If a domain name
needs to be pointed to the new site, this is usually done at this
time, and the site is "live". We will also manually submit
the site to the major free search engines.
10. Site Launch
The work is done, and payment balance is due.
